Roberto Masocco was born in Rome, Italy. He received the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering summa cum laude from Tor Vergata University of Rome in 2019 and the Master's Degree in Automation Engineering summa cum laude in 2021 from the same university, where he then obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science, Control and Geoinformation in 2025.
His research experience was further enhanced by a six-months tenure as a visiting Ph.D. student at the Swiss Plasma Center, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he worked on control systems for magnetic confinement nuclear fusion devices. His research interests include distributed real-time control architectures, operating systems, and the application of Artificial Intelligence to the design and implementation of control systems.
In July 2024, he co-founded dotX Automation, an italian startup active in the innovative field of autonomous mobile and aerial robotics, where he is currently Chief Technology Officer (CTO). From the early days of the company, his mission has been to design, develop, and integrate the technologies that bring dotX's autonomous agents in motion. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive expertise in hardware and software integration, operating systems management, computer networking, and robotic systems spanning multiple physical domains. He approaches every new product design as a problem to decompose and solve elegantly and efficiently, staying up to date with the latest scientific and technological advancements.
